Dumfries police arrest man on sexual assault charge

A man is expected to appear in Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday after being arrested in relation to a serious sexual assault on Sunday 9 September.

Police detained the 28-year-old man in connection with an incident that occurred on the A711 near Cargenbridge.

Det Chief Insp Stevie Carr said: "I would like to thank everyone who has come forward and supported the investigation so far.

"Our enquiries into the incident continue."

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary ask that anyone with information that could help the enquiry should contact the enquiry team at Loreburn Street police station.
