Man charged with Dumfries sex attack

A man has appeared in court at Dumfries charged with carrying out a sex attack on the outskirts of the town just over a week ago.

Alexander Neil, 28, of St Michael Street, Dumfries, made the brief appearance in private before Sheriff George Jamieson.

He was on a petition alleging that at a roadside verge he pushed a woman into bushes and sexually assaulted her.

No plea or declaration was made and he was remanded in custody.
