River Nith body find probe launched

An investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was pulled from a south of Scotland river.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the River Nith near St Michael's Bridge in Dumfries at about 22:30 on Friday.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary has appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Police have not yet released the identity of the dead woman.
