Dumfries health centre opening delayed

Problems with the installation of a high-speed fibre optic cable for data and phone use have delayed the opening of a £6m medical centre.

The Lochfield Road practice in Dumfries was due to open this week.

However, until the technical issues have been resolved it will not be able to start receiving patients.

The facility is to incorporate the Cairn Valley and Charlotte Street practices, but they will now continue to operate at their current sites.

The centre will also act as a base for the Cameron House drug and alcohol service for adults, and house the region's integrated substance services for children.
