Hoddom livestock carrier crash driver dies

A driver has died in hospital three days after a serious crash in southern Scotland involving his car and a livestock carrier.

The incident took place on Tuesday on the B723 at Longmoor near Hoddom.

Edward Gilmour, 64, of Hall Road, Ecclefechan, was taken to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital for treatment but died on Friday.

Police said the procurator fiscal had been informed and inquiries were continuing into the crash.

They are keen to speak to the drivers of a black Vauxhall Astra and a VW Transporter that have been mentioned by witnesses as having been at the scene of the crash at the time.

Police said the vehicles were not directly involved in the accident but it is thought the drivers may have information which could assist the investigation.
