Borders General Hospital ambulance base rejection overturned
The Scottish government has overturned a planning decision which rejected proposals for a new ambulance station next to Borders General Hospital.
The decision means a new health centre planned for Galashiels could go ahead.
The £1.8m Scottish Ambulance Service project - which it says would improve response times - was rejected by councillors due to landscape concerns.
An appeal was lodged against that decision and it has now been upheld by a Scottish government reporter.
The new facility near Melrose will replace the current ambulance station in Galashiels - freeing up that site for a health centre.
