Hawick rugby player Greg Anderson denies assault charge

A rugby player from Hawick has denied assaulting a man in Galashiels to the danger of his life.

Greg Anderson, 22, of Heronhillbank, pled not guilty to punching his alleged victim in the head and causing him to fall to the ground.

The incident is said to have happened outside the Spice of India restaurant.

Mr Anderson - part of the Hawick team which won its Sevens tournament in May - also denied a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The case was continued until next Monday when his regular lawyer will be available.
