Police are hunting vandals who smashed up lights lining the driveway of a Borders hotel causing damage which will cost thousands of pounds to repair.

The incident happened at the Barony Castle Hotel in Eddleston overnight between 25 and 26 April.

Seven light bollards were knocked over and smashed, causing electrical damage.

PC Chris Burnside said: "This was a mindless act of vandalism which has caused considerable damage and will be costly to repair.

"We are eager to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Barony Castle Hotel that weekend and remembers seeing anything unusual."
