New Abbey horse tail cutting incident probed

Police have launched an investigation after part of the tail of a horse was cut at a farm outside Dumfries.

The incident happened in fields at Ingleston Farm, New Abbey, some time between 07:00 and 18:30 on Wednesday.

Hair from the tail of an Irish Cobb horse was cut off. This can be used as a way of marking an animal in preparation for stealing it.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in area to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.
