Queen of the South club murals defaced by vandals

Police are trying to trace vandals who defaced a series of murals charting the history of Dumfries football club Queen of the South.

Red graffiti was daubed over the artwork on the exterior walls at the Terregles Street end of Palmerston Park.

It happened some time on Saturday night sparking widespread anger among supporters and the wider public.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.

The works by artist Jo McSkimming were commissioned by the People's Project - a community group led by Mark Jardine.

He said it was a disgrace and talks would be held to determine what to do next.
