Annan man Danny Glass admits assaulting wife to severe injury

A man originally charged with attempted murder has admitted assaulting his wife to her severe injury.

Danny Glass, 26, of Annan, committed the offence in Silverlaw in the town in July.

He smashed a jar over his wife's head, punched her and put his hands around her throat.

Dumfries Sheriff Court heard she had to be taken to hospital for treatment to a cut on her forehead, injuries around her eye and bruises on her neck.

The court was told that his wife had been found by her mother with blood on her face and was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Fiscal depute Lyndsay Hunter said: "The injuries were said to be consistent with being caused by moderate to extreme force."

Glass also admitted a further charge of punching his wife on the head at Charles Street in Annan three months earlier.

Sentence was deferred for a month for background reports.
