River Teviot body find 'not suspicious'

Police have said the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in the River Teviot near Kelso are not thought to be suspicious.

Rescue teams recovered the body of a 47-year-old woman on Tuesday afternoon at the Roxburgh stretch of the river.

Volunteers from Borders Search and Rescue Unit had been assisting police after reports of a missing woman in the area.

The body was recovered by members of the Borders Water Rescue Team.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said they were still making inquiries but added: "The circumstances are not believed to be suspicious."

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Jedburgh.
