Kelso man in court over police assault in Galashiels Tesco store

A man has appeared in court charged with carrying a knife and assaulting a police officer during a disturbance at a supermarket in the Borders.

Krzysztof Lyszko, 42, was also accused of theft by shoplifting and obstructing police at the Tesco store in Paton Street, Galashiels, on Wednesday.

He appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Lyszko, from Kelso, made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.

He was released on bail by Sheriff Peter Paterson.

Police Scotland said a police officer sustained a leg injury during an incident at the Tesco store. He released from Borders General Hospital after treatment.
