School bus evacuated after fire breaks out near West Linton

A school bus carrying 30 children was evacuated after a fire broke out on the vehicle near a village in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services were called out at about 08:15 to the incident on Station Road near to West Linton.

The students were travelling to Peebles High School when the fire broke out in the engine compartment.

Fire crews from West Linton and Biggar attended and the fire was extinguished. Nobody was injured.

The road was closed for a short time but later reopened and the pupils were taken to school on another bus.
