Police are investigating a number of acts of vandalism carried out at Dumfries and Galloway primary schools during the Easter holidays.

Lincluden, Whithorn and Penpont have all been targeted.

A children's playhouse at the North West Resource Centre in Dumfries has also been damaged.

Police said children might be responsible for a number of the incidents and asked them to stay out of school grounds during the holidays.

The vandalism reported involves:

  • metal shed doors damaged and a compost container emptied at Lincluden Primary in Dumfries between 6 and 11 April
  • an attempt to set fire to a plastic bench, a wooden gazebo tipped over, flower pots smashed and a window broken at Whithorn Primary on Sunday
  • a pirate ship damaged at Penpont Primary between 19:30 on 3 April and 19:30 on 4 April

Police are reviewing CCTV footage at the schools involved as part of their investigations.
