Royal Marine dies after Arbroath car crash
A Royal Marine who crashed his car into a telegraph pole in the early hours of Monday morning has died in hospital.
Carl Harrison, of 45 Commando, suffered serious head injuries in the crash on the A933 near RM Condor, Arbroath.
The 24-year-old, from Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, had to be cut free from his Vauxhall Astra, which landed on its roof in a field.
Tayside Police said no other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened at about 0300 GMT.
Paramedics took the unconscious marine to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with a number of "very serious injuries". He died on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: "'Our thoughts are with Carl's family and colleagues at 45 Commando at this very sad time.''
