Perth prison inmate dies in custody

A murderer serving a life sentence at Perth Prison has died in custody, the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) has said.
Alistair William Thomson, 61, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on 13 May 1993.
An SPS spokesman said the police and Thomson's next of kin had been informed.
A fatal accident inquiry will be held in due course.
