Man dies at Polmont young offenders unit

A teenager has died at a young offenders centre near Falkirk, the Scottish Prison Services has confirmed.

Andrew Stone, 19, who had been on remand at Polmont since 20 December, died on Christmas Day.

The prison service said that police and Mr Stone's family had been informed and a fatal accident inquiry would be held.

The youngster had been placed at Polmont after appearing at Livingstone Sheriff Court on a charge of assault and intent to rob.
