Woman, 56, dies after flat fire

A 56-year-old woman has died after a fire in a flat in Dundee.

Fire crews were called to the flat in Baldovan Terrace at about 1600 GMT on Sunday afternoon.

The woman was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and taken to Ninewells hospital in Dundee, where she died a few hours later.

Tayside Fire and Rescue said a joint investigation into the cause was at an early stage but there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
