A 58-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's body inside a property in Grangemouth at the weekend.

Norman Fraser, of Grangemouth, made no plea or declaration when he appeared on petition in private at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The body of Michelle McCue, 46, from Slamannan in Falkirk, was found in Almond Street on Sunday evening.

Mr Fraser was remanded in custody following his court appearance.

Central Scotland Police said investigations into the death of Ms McCue are continuing.

They said they want to hear from anybody who may have heard a disturbance in Almond Street between 1400 BST on Friday and 1100 BST on Saturday.
