Explosion fear after Ethiebeaton Quarry blaze
Firefighters in Angus are continuing to monitor the scene of a quarry fire after concerns a gas cylinder might explode.
The blaze at a building in Ethiebeaton Quarry, Monifieth, broke out at about 1435 BST on Wednesday.
Tayside Fire Service said crews had quickly realised that there was an acetylene cylinder involved in the fire and set up a 200m exclusion zone.
Firefighters will remain at the scene until Thursday evening.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "It was identified on arrival that the cylinder involved in the fire contained acetylene.
"Fire crews immediately instigated Tayside Fire and Rescue acetylene cylinder procedures by cooling the affected cylinder with two main jets and cordoning off the affected area."
Police closed neighbouring businesses on Wednesday for safety reasons.
Firefighters will stay at the quarry to ensure that the cylinder has cooled down.
