Body of woman discovered in Perthshire woods

Police who have been searching for a missing 77-year-old Perthshire woman since last month are investigating the discovery of an elderly woman's body in woods.

The body was found by a walker near to Overton of Finab, Pitlochry, at about 10:30 on Sunday.

Police said although the circumstances did not appear to be suspicious, the death was unexplained.

The discovery follows the disappearance of Elizabeth Stevenson last month.

Alzheimer's sufferer Ms Stevenson was last seen on the A9 at the Faskally Bridge on 21 February.

After her disappearance, dozens of police and local people carried out searches of the area and police divers were brought in to search Loch Faskally.

Ms Stevenson's daughter later played the part of her mother in a reconstruction and leaflets were handed out to drivers.
