A man previously jailed for possessing one of the largest child porn hauls found in Scotland has been caught for a third time, a court has heard.

Steven Perrie, 46, admitted two charges relating to images of child sex abuse on the day he was due to stand trial at the High Court in Aberdeen.

The father, of Forfar in Angus, has been in custody since June last year over the most recent stash.

Sentence was deferred and Perrie was remanded in custody.

Perrie was first jailed at Forfar Sheriff Court in 2004. He was then given a 36-month extended sentence by Dundee Sheriff Court in October 2005 after committing the same offences while on bail

He had amassed a collection including more than 400,000 photos and almost 16,000 video clips of child sex abuse.

In this latest hearing in Aberdeen, Perrie admitted taking or permitting the images to be taken or made at an address in Forfar between 8 April and 9 June 2011.

He also admitted distributing or showing images of children at the same address between 8 April and 8 May 2011.

Perrie denied a further charge of having indecent images in his possession between 3 September 2009 and 17 June 2011, at Blackpool and other locations, as well as the Forfar address. The not guilty plea to this charge was accepted by the Crown.

Lord Uist deferred sentence on Perrie until Wednesday so the advocate depute and defence counsel could agree on the facts of the case and present them to him.
