Police appeal over metal thefts across Tayside during Christmas

Tayside Police are investigating a series of metal thefts across the force area over the Christmas period.

Officers said thieves had targeted outbuildings at Craichie Mill near Forfar between Sunday, 6 January and Monday morning.

They made off with two Peugeot diesel engines, four pairs of steel forklift forks and a front digger hub.

In a separate incident, £5000 worth of aluminium pipes were stolen from an address in Kirriemuir.

Police said the piping, in lengths between 3.5m and 5.5m, was taken between Friday, 21 December, 2012 and Wednesday, 9 January, 2013.

The force said they were also investigating the theft of 60 gallons of Kerosene stolen from a tank at a property near to Wellbank.

The fuel was stolen between Sunday, 23 December, 2012 and Monday, 7 January, 2013.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity at any of the locations or may have seen or knows any information about the stolen material.
