Appeal as man robbed by house invaders in Tillicoultry

Police are investigating after a 58-year-old was assaulted and robbed by masked men who forced their way into his home in Tillicoultry.

The victim was restrained and robbed of cash and his bank cards at about 02:00 on Tuesday at the property on Johnston Crescent.

The thieves then obtained the man's pin number and took a three-figure sum of money from his bank account at a cash machine on the High Street.

Officers have appealed for witnesses.

Both suspects were white, wearing dark clothing and had balaclavas or similar garments covering their faces. They spoke with Glasgow accents.

Det Insp Michael Lynch said: "Fortunately, the victim was not seriously injured during this incident, but was left understandably shaken.

"I would urge anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in Johnston Crescent, or the High Street area in the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact police immediately."
