Man, 53, on arson charge after fire at Pontypool

A 53-year-old man has been charged with arson and recklessly endangering life after a fire in Pontypool, Torfaen.

Gwent Police said he was also charged with possession of a bladed article and is due to appear in court in Newport.

Officers said emergency services were called to Wainfelin Avenue at about 1600 BST on Thursday.

No-one was injured in the fire on the ground floor of the two-storey property.
