Residents have been advised to keep doors and windows closed after a fire at a recycling plant in Flintshire.

Six fire crews have spent the night at the Spencer industrial estate in Buckley.

Environmental health officers are monitoring smoke levels but there is no suggestion of any hazardous material coming from the fire.

The fire started at around 2255 Sunday night and road closures are in place.

A large plume of smoke is coming from the blaze, at a unit between Globe Way and Mount Pleasant Road, said North Wales Fire and Rescue.

At its height, 10 fire crews, including an aerial ladder, were fighting the blaze.

Standard Road has been closed in both directions but no-one has been asked to leave their homes.

Environment Agency Wales said precautions were being taken to prevent any pollutants entering the local water system.

The site is regulated by the agency and is not permitted to accept any hazardous waste, including asbestos.

Some local roads were closed during the morning but Traffic Wales said delays were kept to a minimum.
