Cardiff student drowned after swing fall into rock pool

A Cardiff student drowned after falling off a rope swing into a rock pool while on a picnic with friends.

Prasad Tirunagiri, 32, from Roath, "surfaced a couple of times but couldn't catch his breath", a Brecon inquest heard.

Mr Tirunagiri had been with a group enjoying the April sunshine in Ystradfellte, Brecon Beacons, when the incident happened.

An accidental death was recorded at the inquest.

The hearing was told Mr Tirunagiri watched friends play on the swing before having a go himself.

But he lost his grip as the thick rope swayed over the water, and he fell in.

The inquest heard that efforts to save him failed.

A post mortem examination showed he drowned.
