Police offer £5,000 reward after Welshpool robbery bid

A £5,000 reward is being offered by police after an attempted robbery at a jewellers in Powys.

Dyfed-Powys Police are hunting three men who used a spray to try to incapacitate the shop owner in Welshpool on 1 December last year.

The incident happened at County Jewellers in Church Street.

The robbers, who were in dark clothing and wore hoods or scarves and sunglasses, used a spray on the owner, but he managed to fight them off.

The robbers left empty-handed.

A police spokesman said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is now offering a reward of £5,000 to any person giving information to the police leading to the arrest and conviction of the offenders."

After leaving the jewellers they are believed to have made their escape in a silver-coloured car parked in nearby Cumberland Place.

Police have searched the surrounding streets and made door-to-door inquiries.
