Police say they are increasingly concerned for an elderly Ceredigion man who went missing after going for a walk from a relative's home.

John Howard Davies, 76, known as Howard, was last seen in Gilfachreda, near New Quay, on Saturday 2 April.

He is said to be 5ft 7in tall, and was wearing a three-quarter length green coat and brown suede shoes.

Dyfed-Powys Police searching for him have checked with bus firms to see if he has travelled out of the area.

Mr Davies, originally from Pumpsaint, near Lampeter, was carrying a beige re-usable shopping bag.

Insp Paul Bonning said: "We have undertaken a significant search across the local area, which has included mountain rescue, utilising specialist dog units, and the coastguard along the Ceredigion shoreline.

"Unfortunately, to date, this has not yielded any further evidence or information.

"However, taking into consideration Mr Davies' age and the time he's been missing, we are becoming concerned for his wellbeing.

"In addition, we believe Mr Davies could have travelled into neighbouring counties and may be staying there.

"So we are appealing to hotel staff, retailers and members of the public to report to police if he's sighted."

Anyone with information on Mr Davies's whereabouts is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police urgently on 101.
