Arrests over Kyle Bates death in Hafod, Swansea in 2008

Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager in Swansea more than three years ago.

Kyle Bates, 16, was found dead at a house in Villiers Street, Hafod, in January 2008.

A 32-year-old man and two women, aged 39 and 53, have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released on police bail.

An inquest was held into Kyle's death in November 2009 and an open verdict was recorded.

Det Insp Peter Doyle, of Swansea central CID, said: "As a result of new information received, police have made three arrests in connection with Kyle's death.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information surrounding the circumstances of Kyle's death to come forward as a matter of urgency."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swansea central police station on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Kyle moved from Newport to Swansea at the age of 11 and came into contact with various care agencies.

A serious case review, which look at how agencies involved in a child's care perform, took place last year into his death.

The independent review criticised several bodies, including the police, youth offending service and Swansea council social services.

The agencies apologised after the death, and Swansea council said action had been taken to improve services.
