Crews battle terraced house blaze in Maindee, Newport

Fire crews fought a blaze at a terraced house in Newport early on Thursday.

The alarm was raised in Chepstow Road, Maindee, at 0515 BST on Thursday, and fire was put out at 0700 BST.

South Wales Fire Service said the house's occupants had been accounted for and there were no injuries.

Ther fire also affected the roof space of an adjoining property. Four pumps, plus a hydraulic platform and a water bowser attended.

South Wales Police said Chepstow Road had been closed in both directions, but there were no reports of major delays.
