Cardiff man not guilty of sex charges

A 24-year-old man has been found not guilty of carrying out serious sexual assaults in Cardiff.

Youssef Zahid, originally from Morocco, was acquitted of three charges of rape at Cardiff Crown Court in September 2012, following an allegation made against him in 2011.

Mr Zahid who had been living in both the Roath and Butetown area of the city at the time, had previously been the subject of a public appeal by South Wales Police detectives.

Update: This story has been amended to take account of the outcome of the court case in 2012.
