Man badly hurt after cliff fall at Llanelly Hill

A man has been taken to hospital after falling about 12m (40ft) from a cliff onto rocks in Monmouthshire.

The incident happened at Llanelly Hill near Gilwern at around 14:20 BST on Thursday.

A fire engine from Brynmawr, a rescue tender from Ebbw Vale and two specialist line rescue teams were sent to the scene.

The man, in his 30s, was airlifted to hospital by an RAF helicopter from Chivenor in Devon.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said the man was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny with multiple serious injuries.

One ambulance was sent to the scene after a 999 call was received.
