Vale Resort, Hensol, to benefit from £25m Leekes deal

The family-run Leekes group has secured a £25m re-financing deal which it says will allow it to expand the business.

The south Wales-based firm has borrowed money for more sporting facilities at its Vale Resort in Hensol, a new store in Coventry, and other developments.

It currently has four department stores in south Wales and three in the West Midlands, and employs 1,000 people.

The company was founded more than 100 years ago by James Henry Leeke, and has an annual turnover of £70m.

Its head office is at Pontyclun, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Mike Fowler, Leekes Group finance director, said: "The history of Leekes is one of growth, expansion and quality service and we're firmly focused on keeping the business moving in this direction."
