A boys' choir and a dance group from south Wales have been beaten by a dancing dog in the Britain's Got Talent final.

The 140-strong Only Boys Aloud choir and dancers Nu Sxool, from Port Talbot, were voted through to Saturday's final by ITV1 viewers.

Both Welsh finalists had hoped to emulate opera singer Paul Potts, from Port Talbot, who won the first series.

However, the £500,000 first prize was won by Ashleigh Butler and dog Pudsey.

The teenager had trained her pet to jump and dance for their routine, performed to the Mission Impossible theme.

The pair, from Northampton, will also perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of the Queen.

Speaking before the final, Only Boys Aloud director Tim Rhys Evans said the competition was a chance to "show the rest of the UK and indeed the world what is special about our tradition".

The final was screened at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, which sold 1,300 tickets in 12 minutes.
