Motorcyclist critical after collision with car on A4059

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition after a collision with a car on the Powys-Rhondda Cynon Taf border.

The incident, involving a silver Audi and black and silver Kawasaki motorbike, took place on Saturday afternoon on the A4059 just north of Penderyn.

The 58-year-old man, from Tonypandy, was seriously hurt and airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Officers said the car was heading southbound while the bike was travelling north at the time of the incident around 16:35 BST.

It is also known the driver of the motorbike was travelling along the route with one other motorcyclist, who was riding a black Kawasaki.

The occupants of the Audi were not injured.

South Wales Police have asked anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of either vehicle in the moments before the crash, is urged to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
