Ched Evans rape case: Another arrest in Twitter investigation
North Wales Police have arrested a 51-year-old man from Essex as part of an investigation into the naming on Twitter of a young woman who was raped by Wales footballer Ched Evans.
The former Sheffield United striker was jailed for five years in April after raping the 19-year-old at a hotel in Rhyl, Denbighshire.
Earlier this month he lost the first stage of his appeal against conviction.
North Wales Police said the arrested man had been released on bail.
At least 17 people have now been arrested as part of the investigation into comments made about the victim on social networking sites.
It prompted the UK government to warn in May that anybody who identified rape victims online would feel "the full force of the law".
North Wales Police said in a statement: "On 27 August, a 51-year-old Essex man was arrested in connection with the ongoing... investigation into the naming of a rape victim on social media sites.
"Following interview, the man was bailed to allow police further time to complete their investigation.
"He will answer bail in October."
