M4 crash: Four cars and van collide J29

Motorists experienced five mile tailbacks on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 after four cars collided with a van which overturned at junction 29 between Cardiff and Newport.

The incident happened just before the slip road from junction 29 (A48m) and the road was fully blocked for a time.

Queues formed between junction 30 (Cardiff Gate) and junction 29 before traffic cleared by 20:00 BST.

Four adults were treated for shock and two others were assessed at the scene.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Roath and a specialist rescue unit from Malpas were sent to the scene at 16:45 BST.
