Glanrhyd Road, Pontardawe, reopened as tree hits cables

A road has reopened after a fallen tree was thought to have brought down telephone cables in the Swansea Valley.

Glanrhyd Road in Pontardawe was shut after the incident on Saturday morning was reported to police by a member of the public.

Emergency services attended but there were no reports of any injuries.

Telcommunications company BT said there appeared to be no damage to the cables and there had been no reports of telephone faults.

BT said the road reopened when its engineer got to the scene.

South Wales Police said the force had contacted BT about the incident just after 10:00 GMT.
