Met Office issues severe weather warning for Wales

Torrential downpours could hit Wales overnight on Thursday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow severe weather warning for 19 of Wales' 22 council areas from Anglesey to Monmouthshire.

Heavy showers are likely from 18:00 BST with up to 30mm (1.2in) of rain in three hours.

The Met Office said there will also be lightning although the showers should die out from the west in the early hours of Friday.

It came as Dyfed-Powys Police warned that a large tree had fallen down on the B4308 Furnace to Farriers road in Carmarthenshire, near the traffic lights.

The force said the road was blocked and traffic should avoid the area if possible.
