A warning that heavy rain could hit parts of Wales from Tuesday night through to Wednesday has been issued.

The Met Office's yellow "be aware" warning covers Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Powys, Conwy and Gwynedd.

It says the public should be aware of the risk of local flooding.

The band of heavy and persistent rain is due to move in on Tuesday evening and is expected to last for much of Wednesday with the worst of the weather forecast overnight.

Natural Resources Wales said recent heavy rain has left the ground saturated so further rain could cause rivers to rise.

It also warned any localised flooding on road surfaces could cause travel disruptions and it urges motorists to allow more time for journeys.
