Residents in a Gwynedd city have suffered the least number of burglaries across the UK, new figures show.

Bangor came bottom of the list according to, along with Dumfries, Scotland and Felixstowe, Suffolk.

But areas in Cardiff, such as Roath Park, Cyncoed and St Mellons, had the highest rate in Wales.

The website said the CF23 postcode made the most insurance claims - 39.5 out of every 1,000.

However, figures show Wales did not feature in the top 20 burglary hotspots around the UK.

The figures are based on details of claims given in nearly 2.75m insurance quotes in the UK last year.

Areas most likely to claim for theft on home insurance:

  • CF23 - Cardiff North East
  • NP44 - Cwmbran
  • CF11 - Cardiff Central
  • NP18 - East Newport
  • LL11 - Wrexham
