OAP Malcolm Donaldson guilty of raping 24-year-old woman
A pensioner has been convicted of raping a woman who woke up partially-clothed in a Denbighshire field with no memory of how she got there.
Malcolm Donaldson, 73, insisted he was in bed 45 miles away in Caernarfon when the attack took place in Prestatyn.
But his DNA was found on the victim and the jury at Mold Crown Court convicted him of the charge.
The woman had been on a night out and believes her drink may have been spiked.
She told the court she could not remember what had happened to her when she woke up partially clothed in the field, covered in mud.
During the trial, prosecutor Kim Halsall told the jury the victim had been out to a pub on the evening of the attack in March last year, but could recall nothing after leaving the bar.
Supermarket worker Donaldson was remanded in custody and will be sentenced in April.
