All-female gun salute at Cardiff Castle for women's day
An all-female gun salute has been staged by Army reservists at Cardiff Castle to mark International Women's Day.
It was led by personnel attached to the 104 Regiment Royal Artillery, based at Raglan Barracks in Newport.
"We've never been in a position when we've been able to do something like this before," said Capt Helen Jasper, the officer commanding the salute.
Other events are being staged on Sunday.
Female gunners of C (Glamorgan Yeomanry) Troop, 211 (South Wales) Battery Royal Artillery led the gun salute at noon.
BBC National Orchestra of Wales is performing a special concert, led by conductor Jessica Cottis with music composed by women, which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
