A new independent regulator of qualifications in Wales has been launched.

Qualifications Wales, which will take over duties from the Welsh government, was created after a 2012 review of qualifications for 14 to 19-year-olds.

The body, based in Newport, aims to ensure qualifications "meet the needs of learners in Wales".

Education Minister Huw Lewis will join representatives from education and work at its launch on Thursday.
