About 30 firefighters have put out a blaze at the rear of a village pub near Tregaron in Ceredigion.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue were called to the shed fire at the Foelallt Arms, Llanddewi Brefi, just after 2005 GMT on Saturday.

Crews using breathing apparatus pumped water from a nearby river and left the scene at 0300 on Sunday.

"There were 10 of us watching the Wales rugby game when the alarm went off," explained landlady Shirley Davies.

"We had to leave the bar and missed the rest of the game but the fire crews did a fantastic job as the blaze came within three feet of the back door of the pub."
