A man whose body was discovered on a road in Ceredigion has been identified.

John Howard Davies, 76, known as Howard, from Pumpsaint, near Lampeter, had been missing since 2 April.

His body was found shortly before 2145 BST on Monday on the B4342 between Llanarth and New Quay.

A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and Dyfed-Powys Police said there were "currently no suspicious circumstances".

Mr Davies was last seen in Gilfachreda, near New Quay, on 2 April.

During their search for the pensioner, Dyfed-Powys Police checked with bus firms to see if he had travelled out of the area, but there was no trace of him.

The B4342 between Llanarth and New Quay was closed in both directions after his body was found on Monday. It was later re-opened.

Ceredigion coroner Peter Brunton has been informed.
