Concern is mounting for a missing man, who was last seen going into a lake during a family day out in Ceredigion.

The 27 year old was visiting Llyn Syfydrin, east of Aberystwyth, and is believed to have got into difficulty while in the water.

Emergency services launched searches after being called to the scene on bank holiday Monday just before 16:00 BST.

Dyfed-Powys Police said his family are "very concerned for his welfare".

But the force said there is a "possibility the man got out of the water and may have wandered off".

The search has involved police, specially trained dogs and a Dyfed-Powys Police helicopter along with fire and rescue crews and the coastguard.

The family is being supported by specialist officers while the search continues.
