Llandrindod High School in special measures after Estyn inspection
A Powys secondary school has been put into special measures by the school inspection body, Estyn.
Llandrindod High School, which has around 600 pupils aged 11-18, was inspected in October.
Powys council's cabinet member for education, Arwel Jones, said: "The report is very disappointing and a matter of great concern for the school, the governing body and the council."
A team of education specialists has been appointed.
Mr Jones said Estyn's report would form the basis of a detailed action plan for the school and its governing body.
The school's chair of governors, Maurice Thorn, said: "The school is disappointed with the inspection outcome. We accept the findings and we are aware that improvements are needed."
